A prominent interest rate and a small instalment do not explain the entire cost of a cash loan. Money actually received, duration, fees and conditions can change the decision. Request comparable information before signing. This is a general comparison guide, not personalised advice. Olai is not the lender, and the figures here are educational examples rather than confirmed offers or current tariffs from a particular bank.

Use equal amounts and terms

Instalments over 12 and 36 months are not directly equivalent offers. Ask both providers for schedules using the same amount and term. A longer duration may lower monthly pressure while increasing total payments. Ask not only how much you pay monthly but how much until settlement. Compare the same amount received, not merely the nominal loan recorded in the contract.

Request the FİFD figure

The effective annual interest rate is an important cost-comparison indicator. Azerbaijan’s Central Bank standard consumer-loan information form includes a field for it. Do not stop at the nominal rate. Ask which charges are included and what other conditions apply. A useful indicator does not replace reading the agreement, payment schedule and additional-service terms relevant to your choice.

Check the amount disbursed

A nominal loan of 5000 AZN does not necessarily mean receiving all 5000 AZN. Deducted fees can change the amount. For illustration, a 100 AZN upfront deduction leaves 4900 AZN. This is not a bank tariff. Confirm how the charge is collected and its effect on repayment in writing before agreeing to the offer.

Separate insurance and extra services

Ask whether insurance, accounts and other services are required. Do not automatically accept an unwanted option: read selection and cancellation conditions. One-off and recurring charges affect total cost differently. Match verbal explanations to the written clause. Request a plain-language explanation and an amount when a term is unclear rather than relying on promotional wording.

Read repayment conditions

Check due dates, arrears charges, payment channels and early-settlement rules. Ask how extra payments affect principal. When moving borrowing to another lender, include old settlement and new arrangement costs, not just the lower monthly figure. A new contract does not automatically eliminate existing repayment pressure or financial risk, even when the advertisement appears attractive.

Test affordability against stable income

Compare repayments with the predictable portion of income. Do not treat bonuses as guaranteed. Consider a reduced income or unexpected expense. Decide using written conditions rather than pressure from a time-limited promotion. Use secure official channels for information; an unrelated intermediary does not need your one-time banking codes to compare loan offers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the lowest instalment always the cheapest loan?

Is the nominal interest rate enough?
